DarkFlash DY470 ATX PC Case Review

With a panoramic view, sturdy build and massive size, the DarkFlash DY470 looks ready for prime time.

It’s great to see that nowadays, we’re seeing a lot of innovations in designs and functionality with case manufacturers and their products. We’re treated with different formats for different form factors, unique features that can further improve aesthetics and performance, and so much more. Now, with that said, we’re also met with a plethora of options it’s getting more difficult to choose a case that will fit right at home with your intended build. So for today, we’re going to take a look at the DarkFlash DY470 to help you narrow it down, and it. is. a. Looker.

UNBOXING

First and foremost, the DY470 comes off as quite imposing from the packaging firsthand. It is one of the most massive boxes that has ever graced us. The box measures 55x40x60cm, so quite imposing when the delivery guy carries it to your doorstep. 

Instructions unclear. Now I'm upside down.

Once you pop open the box, you’ll be met with the case in its gigantic glory. It’s a cabinet for what it’s worth just because of its sheer size. That’s about it for what’s inside the box, because the manual and a set of accessories in a box are really inside the case.

The accessory box contains plenty of screws, cable ties, motherboard speaker, standoffs, microfiber cloth, and a whole lot more.

DESIGN AND BUILDING EXPERIENCE

DarkFlash defines the DY470 as a luxury case, and for good reason. Its three-side glass give off quite an eyecatching vibe, and the angled one at the top grant it with more a sophisticated and unique aesthetic. It's a combination of a lot of things, really. Straightforward elements meeting irregularities for design is really to look at. Not to mention how much of a tank it is. 

There's plenty to like here too if you're wondering about its functionalities. There's plenty of room for cable management on both the back and front. There's ample size for PSU cables when you're attaching them to your motherboard, and routing options with velcro straps help you out in keeping things neat. Best of all? Hate the hassle of cable management at the back? Hide it away. The DY470 comes with a plate to cover all those, including the hard drive bay.

There's also an adjustable GPU bracket if you're using bulky graphics cards like an RTX 40 series. Max GPU clearance is also at 410mm horizontally and 390mm vertically to note. See? Roomy. The vertical GPU setup is optional, which will allow you to mount up to a three-slot GPU if you want a showcase. If you're planning to take the air-cooling route, the max CPU cooler clearance is at 175mm, so this did fit our Noctua NH-D15 even with the fan on the RAM side is moved up for RAM clearance. 

You'll get plenty of fan support here with a max of 10 to install. Overkill? Ehh, who's to decide? The DY470 comes pre-installed with four - three on the side and one on the back. 

There's also a dust filter at the bottom, which is great since this will be used for intake. 

For ports, it comes with two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. The audio ports here are separate, and as much as I want DarkFlash to bundle a Y-Splitter to fit the more modern times, this would likely fall on your headphones and its manufacturer to throw them in.

You can also remove the top panel for easy access to the fan installation. The tempered glass panel on the side also is securely placed, not to mention very sturdy. I was too clumsy that I managed to drop the case somehow (don't ask me how) but it's still in one piece. And with no dents on the steel frame.

It does have some things missing that I would like to point out. First off, it's already a massive case. Why not give the room for 140mm fans and 280mm AIO support? I have here a 280mm AIO with a screen and I would have liked to use it here, but unfortunately that's not going to happen. There's also very limited hard drive support, because you'll only be getting one for a 2.5-inch and two for a 3.5-inch drive.

CONCLUSION

The DarkFlash DY470 is an ambitious case through its impressively sturdy build quality, gorgeous design, showcasibility, and a very neat and easy building experience. DarkFlash's efforts and ideas here are appreciated - there's plenty of room for leftover cables if you're using non-modular PSUs (or even if), and the panel helps out any unwanted cables from protruding out, making a fine and clean setup on both ends. 

These panoramic cases are the new standard, giving more ways for users to showcase their builds. The inclusion of four pre-installed ARGB fans is also a nice touch, and of course you'll have option to install more if you deem it necessary. Those who are looking for a Full ATX case for their builds will definitely be aware of the case's massive footprint, sheer size, and heavy weight so that won't be the issue here. There are some things that could be improved upon like fan size options (280mm AIO please thank you.) and the drive limitations, but then again with people moving away from 3.5-inch or even 2.5-inch drives, we may be seeing something else in the future. So, yeah we're hopeful for DarkFlash to build upon this further with those in mind. 

At the time of writing, the DarkFlash DY470 is priced at PHP5,349. Now, if you're out in the market for a case for showcasing your PC build, it's easily an attractive case with a strong list of features, with its panoramic view being one of its crowning moments.
